Argot de la RAF pour un spécialiste technique, jargon de travail authentique.
Un « Boffin » est un scientifique, un intellectuel, quelqu'un de très qualifié dans son domaine, mais qui en sait beaucoup sur très peu. L'origine remonte à l'argot de la Royal Air Force des années 1930/40.
