sprocket
A toothed wheel that enmeshes with a chain or other perforated band.
Why this one
A sprocket drives by engaging holes or chain rollers, not by friction, so it cannot slip like a pulley and belt can. The same principle turns up in film transports, bicycle drivetrains and conveyor bands.
In use
Chain's jumping under load, so check the sprocket teeth before you blame the tensioner.
