An alloy of copper and titanium obtained by reducing a mixture of copper and rutile.
Why this one
The name follows the old master alloy pattern (cupromanganese, cuproaluminium): titanium is awkward to add to a copper melt on its own, so it arrives already dissolved in copper and goes in as a scavenger for oxygen and nitrogen.
In use
Melt looked gassy, so we dropped in a bit of cuprotitanium before tapping and it poured clean after that.
