DIA is Denver International Airport, located about 23 miles northeast of downtown Denver, Colorado. It opened in 1995 and serves as a major hub for United Airlines and a focus city for Southwest Airlines. For aviation maintenance personnel, DIA is significant as a major maintenance base where scheduled and unscheduled aircraft work happens at scale.
The airport's maintenance infrastructure includes multiple hangars capable of accommodating wide-body aircraft like the Boeing 777 and Airbus A350. United Airlines operates one of its largest maintenance bases at DIA, where line maintenance, heavy checks, and component repair occur. The facility handles everything from daily turnaround inspections to C-checks and D-checks on narrow-body and wide-body fleets.
