ESOC: mission control for Europe's spacecraft
The European Space Operations Centre is located in Darmstadt, Germany, and serves as the operational hub for the European Space Agency's unmanned space missions. It is where flight controllers monitor spacecraft health, execute orbital maneuvers, process scientific data downlinks, and manage communications with probes and satellites across the solar system. For aviation maintenance workers supporting ESA contracts or tracking satellite telemetry, ESOC represents the ground-based command authority that directs every decision about a spacecraft in orbit.
