greenware
Pottery that has been shaped but not yet fired, especially while it is drying prior to being fireable.
Why this one
The name marks a stage, not a colour: green here means unfired and still fragile, the same sense in which welders speak of green timber or green concrete. Handling losses in this state are the ones nobody gets back.
In use
Leave that greenware on the rack another day, it's still damp in the base and it'll crack on us in the kiln.
