conciator

The person who prepares the materials to be made into glass, and/or works and tempers them.

Why this one

A Venetian title from the Murano furnaces, where batch mixing was a named job rather than a step: the conciator held the recipe, and the gaffer at the bench depended on it being right.

In use

No point blaming the blower for that streak; ask the conciator what went into the batch last night.
