block upconverter

An electronic device that converts a band of frequencies from a lower frequency to a higher frequency, used in satellite uplinks.

Why this one

The "block" is the point: it shifts a whole slab of spectrum at once rather than tuning channel by channel, which is why it pairs so neatly with the LNB doing the reverse job on the receive side.

In use

Uplink dropped out again, so check the cable to the block upconverter before anyone starts blaming the modem.
