boneyard

An area scraped down to the mineral soil, so that smouldering material can be placed there without starting another fire.

Why this one

Where retired equipment goes. Every large site has one, and it is usually the first place people look for a spare part.

In use

Take that stump to the boneyard and break it up there, I don't want it smouldering in the duff all night.
