money shift

Authentischer Mechanikerausdruck für einen kostspieligen Schaltunsfall

Tritt normalerweise nur bei einem manual transmission auf: ein versehentlicher, viel zu aggressiver Downshift, bei dem der Motor das größte Drehzahlende aufzieht, das man je gesehen hat. Es wird Money Shift genannt, weil es meist dazu führt, dass Geld aus der eigenen Tasche für einen neuen Zylinderkopf, Kolben usw. kommt.

My buddy Erin was doin around 65 mph when he accidentally hit second gear, money shifting his way to a new engine.
