Britischer Werkstatt- und Betriebsbegriff für Schrott und Abfallmaterial.

Müll, Abfall oder Schmutz. Britischer Slang. Berüchtigt durch die BBC-Komödie 'The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin' aus den 1970ern, in der Reggie einen hoffnungslos gescheiterten Laden eröffnete, der alte Trödel und Schrott in völlig nutzlose Gegenstände umwandelte und ihn 'The Grot Shop' nannte. (Zu Reggies Entsetzen war der Laden riesig erfolgreich und führte zu einer Kette von Grot Shops und schließlich zu Grot Industries.) Etwas 'Grotty' hat ein schmutziges Aussehen.
