An automobile construction technique in which the body is integrated into a single unit with the chassis rather than having a separate body-on-frame.
Warum dieses Wort
The idea came from aircraft monocoque work: let the skin and floor carry the load instead of hanging them off rails. It changed collision repair too, since a hit at one corner can pull dimensions out at the other end.
In use
It's a unibody, so we're not straightening anything by eye; it goes on the bench and we measure off the factory points.
