microprocessor
The entire CPU of a computer on a single integrated circuit (chip).
Warum dieses Wort
The revolution was packaging, not arithmetic: the logic already existed as boards full of separate chips, and shrinking it to one die turned a computer room into a component you solder down.
In use
The whole control board is just the microprocessor, a bit of memory and the drivers, so if it's dead we swap the board, not chase gates.
