line drop

A drop in voltage between two points of a transmission line.

Warum dieses Wort

The loss lives in the conductor, not the load, so the fix is usually bigger cable or a shorter run rather than a bigger supply. It shows up worst at startup, when inrush current is highest.

In use

Meter reads 400 at the board and 372 out at the crusher, so that's line drop over the whole cable run, not a duff transformer.
