electric flux

The measure of flow of the electric field through a given area.

Warum dieses Wort

The name comes from the Latin for flow, but nothing moves: it is a count of field lines crossing a surface. Orientation is half the answer, since a surface turned edge-on to the field catches almost none.

In use

Tilt the sensor plate square to the field or your electric flux reading drops off and you'll chase a fault that isn't there.
