A stitch made by a sewing machine in which two threads are interlocked.
Warum dieses Wort
The needle thread and the bobbin thread knot at every penetration, so cutting one place does not run the seam the way a chainstitch does. The trade-off is the bobbin: finite thread, and very little give in a stretch fabric.
In use
Put a lockstitch down the side seam and leave the overlock for the edge, that's what the spec sheet asks for.
