modular building

A method where structures are prefabricated in sections, or modules, off-site in a factory setting before being transported and assembled at the final location.

Warum dieses Wort

The gain is not just speed but tolerance: a factory floor is flat, dry and lit, so modules come out squarer than anything framed in the rain. The tradeoff moves forward, into design freeze and crane logistics.

In use

Modular building only pays off if the design is locked by March; once those modules are on the line you're not moving a stud.
