Gunning transceiver logic
A kind of logic signaling used to drive electronic backplane buses, having a voltage swing between 0.4 and 1.2 volts, much lower than that used in TTL and CMOS logic, and symmetrical parallel resistive termination.
Warum dieses Wort
Named for Bill Gunning, who worked out that the way to run a fast backplane was not louder signals but quieter ones: a swing under a volt, with both ends of the line resistively terminated so reflections die instead of ringing.
In use
That backplane is Gunning transceiver logic, so don't go looking for five volt levels on the scope; the swing is under a volt and it's supposed to be.
