barnacle
On printed circuit boards, a change such as soldering a wire in order to connect two points, or addition such as an added resistor or capacitor, subassembly or daughterboard.
Warum dieses Wort
Named for what it looks like: something clinging to the hull that was never part of the design. A barnacle marks a fix made after layout was frozen, and it is the first thing a reviewer looks for when a board behaves differently from the schematic.
In use
Rev B still has that barnacle across R14, so don't trust the artwork until we spin a new board.
