anilox
nounDrucktechnik
A method used to provide a measured amount of ink to a flexo printing plate, involving a hard cylinder whose surface is covered in tiny cells that capture the ink.
Warum dieses Wort
The name is a contraction of aniline and roll, from the aniline dyes early flexo used. Ink volume is set by the cell geometry, not by pressure, so a worn or plugged roll shows up as weak density long before the plate is at fault.
In use
Density's down on unit three, and the plate's fine, so I'd bet the anilox is plugged and wants a proper clean.
