A type of valve in an internal combustion engine, and thus also (metonymic) the type of valvetrain design, the type of engine that uses it, or an instance of such an engine; this design has the inlet and exhaust valves in the cylinder head (and therefore above the piston). The camshaft can be beside the pistons (with pushrods and rockers operating the valves) or above the valves, with the latter usually referred to as overhead cam.

A resistor that is connected between a signal and ground in a circuit to ensure that the signal is at a low logic level.
pull-up resistor
A resistor that is connected between a signal and a positive voltage supply in a circuit to ensure that the signal is at a defined logic level.
punchdown
A kind of electrical connection often used in telephony, having solid copper wires that are punched down into short open-ended slots which are a type of insulation-displacement connector. The slots contain blades which cut through the wire's insulation as it is punched down, and hold the wire in position while making electrical contact.
pushbar
A tubular or bar-shaped accessory mounted on the front bumper or chassis of a vehicle, especially trucks, SUVs, emergency service vehicles or locomotives, designed to push light loads (such as stalled vehicles) or guard against minor impacts without damaging the main bumper assembly.

printed wiring board - A circuit board blank created by etching away material thereby exposing non-conductive lands between conductive traces. What a printed circuit assembly is called before it is "stuffed" with components.

A rubber hose of a large diameter which carries engine coolant between the engine and radiator, and then backs towards the water pump.

A form of braking used on some electric vehicles in conjunction with the main braking system, where kinetic energy from braking is converted into electricity and fed back into the power supply by using the traction motors as generators.
